An artist-run space in a Baltimore, MD backyard.

May 2021

The Shed is pleased to present Reflections from Home, an installation by Markele Cullins featuring short films by the artist.

Close to Home

A collaboration between Markele Cullins and Abdu Ali, Close to Home is a short investigative film amplifying the solidarity and collective consciousness to explore what it means to be a black artist and connecting the dialogue within the diaspora between Baltimore and Norway. The film is a non-linear experimental project that uses dialogue, sound, and archival footage to create a sensory study of the transnational experiences from a selection of Black artists.

Reflections I, II, III

Reflections is a series that uses improvisation and mystification to work with multiple dichotomies of the past and present. The work in the series is inspired by complex familial relationships, Baltimore club music, and mundane Afrofuturism.

The Shed was started by Baltimore artist Bonnie Crawford along with her partner  and two children. Our exhibitions are intended to be private, contemplative viewing experiences.
